A Toadily Easy Toad House

Since posting about the benefits of having a resident toad in the garden, I came across this DIY idea with directions for creating a toad house. Of course, partially burying an old flowerpot will work as well, but if you'd like to enhance the curb appeal of your toad's real estate, grab a few pebbles and some glue and you're on your way. I'm certain your toad will like it just as well as the toad abodes for sale at upscale garden centers. Check these out:

And, for the record, a recycled terracotta pot like this one works equally well and requires a lot less time and effort. The important thing is to provide daytime shelter from the sun.
Toads prefer damp, dark, cool places with dirt floors so they can burrow down. If you can locate such a spot within hopping range of a light source that will attract insects, even better. You've met every requirement.
