Every year, when our spring wreath is attached to the front door, I wonder what kind of bird will build its nest there. One always claims the spot.
Last May, the nest was small and tucked inside the wreath opening--the work of a wren. She began with 3 eggs but ended up with none when a cowbird evicted her and laid its own eggs. Bully! This year, the nest is larger and very tidy, a masterpiece made of grass and mud and built at the top of the wreath. No eggs yet. I'm anxious to catch a glimpse of the builder. More to come....
