Decker

Decker works night AND day!
Although toads are nocturnal, we've been seeing them often during the day lately, as evidenced by this quick daytime shot of the one that has taken up residence under our deck (hence, the name "Decker"). I'd be willing to bet that he is the reason our backyard hostas have been slug-free so far this summer. He looks well fed, I haven't seen a single slug, and we haven't had to even think about setting out the annual slug beer bar, which typically opens about the same time as those at Summerfest. I'm anxious to see if Decker can also handle Japanese beetle control. Last year they were so bad that I had to declare WAR! on Japan. So this year, I gave up hibiscus and ornamental sweet potato vine--two of the beetles' favorite plants. Mine, too. And now I also have Decker on deck. So far, so good.
