Barn swallows have once again taken up residency
in our well-used nest over one of our outside lights.
It becomes the "vacation home" of choice every summer.
We've watched the mother set up the nest
and then sit on it for lengths of time.
We tried to be considerate about going on our deck,
explaining to the mother often that we could co-exist.
Well, nesting turned into babies - and babies to "flyers."
We were blessed to catch "first flight"
with a lot of chattering from the nest-bound, cheering siblings
and swooping from the parent birds.
Now all our "babies" have "left the nest" flying around our yard
with all the other new "flyers."
The babies return to the nest sometimes, but we know that soon will stop.
But we have a feeling that there will be an "instant replay"
and we'll have more entertainment
outside of our morning room this summer. :)
